    首先,上世纪中期,工程心理学形成。主张对劳动工具进行改装和设计, 使劳动工具的设计适应人的心理生理特点,以保证最佳的劳动条件,使工程可靠,操作者轻松,效率提高。心理工作者的辛勤工作,不仅在记载和积累有科学价值的资料方面功勋卓著, 而且在利用心理机制使人与机器设备之间的信息传递和互相适应, 在保证一个大系统的可靠性和高效率的前提方面作出了卓越的贡献。认知心理学的成果及客观分析人的心理过程的方法, 被应用于解决自动化控制系统和大型国防工程, 取得了显著的效果。随着工业产生一系列的革新,同时科学领域里控制论、信息论、仿生学等科学的发展,工程心理学进入了系统研究。以人—机—环境系统为对象,研究系统中人的行为,以及人与机器和环境相互作用,使工程技术设计与人的身心特点相匹配, 从而提高系统效率、保障人机安全、并使人在系统中能够有效而舒适地工作。认知实验心理学成为现代工程心理学的理论基础。如今,工程心理学正致力于把人机系统扩大为人—机—环境—社会这样的更全面的系统。

    其次, 管理心理学是把心理学的知识应用于分析、说明、指导管理活动中的个体和群体行为的工业心理学分支。行为科学管理理论是管理心理学启蒙阶段, 其奠基就是以社会心理学家梅奥为首的一批专家进行了著名的“霍桑实验”,提出了“社会人”的假设。他们认为,单靠物质刺激不能保证调动工人的积极性。良好的人际关系,有利的社会条件与工作效率有更密切的关系。此外,他们还提出了非正式组织在群体中的作用。现代管理心理学主要研究与组织行为有关的人的个体特点,如动机、能力、性向等;人的群体特点, 如群体的分类、人与组织的相互作用等;领导行为特点,如领导风格,领导的评估与培训等;组织理论与组织变革,如组织的模型,组织变革与组织开发研究等;工作生活质量研究,着重从改善工作环境,工作丰富化、扩大化方面调动职工的积极性,提高生产率。

    除此以外,现代工业心理学的分支逐渐增多,包括管理心理学、劳动心理学、工程心理学、人事心理学等等。工作环境是否适合于保证人的安全、健康和舒适,并保证生产的高效率;工作环境是否能适合生理上的需要,工作者心理需要是否得到满足等问题,日益得到人们的关注, 人们利用心理方法实施工作内容的丰富化和扩大化,减少简单、重复的劳动,提高工作本身对人的意义,增加工作者的满意度,都得到了满意的效果。人事心理学在提高人的激励水平,改善培训方法,对人进行科学的评价和选拔任用,以及职业的设计和人事安排等方面, 都发挥了重要作用,也为科学地制定有关人事管理的制度提供依据。

    四、心理学在教育事业中的应用

    19 世纪末心理学进入了教育领域,教育心理学成为一门独立的学科。近代西方教育思潮倾向于把教育学理论建立在心理学研究成果的基础上, 这是促进教育心理学成为独立学科的前提条件。德国心理学家赫尔巴特对教育心理学的建立起到开拓作用。赫尔巴特在教学理论中,把教学分为教育的教学和非教育的教学两种,前者指伦理、道德、意志、性格的培养,后者指传授知识、技能的智育活动,他认为这两方面的教育活动都应以心理学理论为基础。桑代克1903 年出版《教育心理学》一书,以学校情境详尽说明学习的概念, 这被认为是近代教育心理学的真正开端。内容包括人的本性、学习心理学、个别差异及其原因三大部分。他提出的学习三大定律(效果律、准备律、练习律)及个别差异理论,成为后来教育心理学研究的重要课题。

    心理学的行为主义学派、格式塔心理学派和精神分析等学派的学说对教育事业都产生过重要影响。受格式塔学派的影响,教育开始重视“顿悟”在学习中的地位,不再局限于尝试错误、刺激与反应等联结主义。行为主义理论则促使教育界重视人的行为的研究,注意环境对人的心理的影响。弗洛伊德的精神分析学派使教育重新重视意识的研究, 特别是潜意识和下意识问题。同时,重视情感在教育和教学过程中的作用, 把心理卫生知识引进教育和教学过程中。

    早期教育心理学偏重于学习心理的研究和学习规律的讨论,并且大多集中于智育方面的问题。随着教育对人的全面发展的日益重视, 也就越来越重视道德行为、道德情感以及审美情感的培养。1947 年,美国心理学会成立了对教育心理学研究进行规划的委员会, 认为教育心理学的研究任务和对象应包括八个项目:教育评价和测量;儿童发展的特点;特殊儿童及其教育;有关学习心理学的教育方法;特殊学科的学习;学习辅导和心理健康;教师人事和促成学习的教师行为;教育心理学的方法。

    现代教育心理学的研究一般集中在: 人类生长和发展,包括遗传与环境、一般生长和发展、社会与情绪的发展、动机的基本理论、智慧、性向与兴趣,以及个别差异等;学习,包括学习的本质、影响学习的因素、学习的动机、技能、推理与问题解决、态度、特殊科目的学习,以及训练的转移等;人格与适应,包括情绪、学生与教师的心理卫生、特殊儿童、品格,以及社会活动;测量与评价,包括测量的基本原则、智力与性向的测量、学习的测量、适应的测量,以及测量结果的应用;教育心理学的方法与技术,包括教育问题的科学研究、统计技术,以及为教师所提供的研究方法。

    现代教育心理学发展的趋势之一, 是逐渐转向教育过程和学生心理的探讨, 也重视教学手段的改进。人们高度关注教材、教法改革研究特别是关于学生创造能力的培养,通过教学手段的改进,开发学生智力,促进创造性思维的发展,已成为教育心理学研究的热门。许多教育心理学家纷纷提出培养创造力的各种建议,开展了许多创造力课题的研究,教学中提倡发现学习,鼓励儿童的幻想、好奇心、个性独立性等,都是着眼于教学的改革。例如,行为主义心理学家的斯金纳, 参照以往别人制作的教学机器设计制成了程序教学机。这种教学机器的特点是学生能够按照自己的能力为自己设定步调, 确定学习的进度,能够及时从机器中获得反馈信息,机器根据学生学习的程度自动调整问题和学习内容的难度。今天以计算机为基础的自我教学法就起源于这种程序教学机。程序教学运动对教学方法带来了很大影响,在很长一段时间内, 那些以操作条件反射为基础而设计的教学课件备受欢迎, 斯金纳的及时强化思想仍然在教学实践中被证明是有效的, 而且受到大多数教师的欢迎,其程序教学思想也影响了教材的编制。直到现在, 无论是在教材编排还是在课堂教学方法方面,都能够看到程序教学的影子。教育心理学另一个发展趋势是更加重视研究教学中的社会心理因素问题。随着社会心理学研究的深入,不少教育心理学家开始从社会心理学的角度, 把学校和课堂看作是社会情境,注意研究其中影响教学的社会心理因素。如运用社会心理学理论研究学习动机, 试图用造成某种外部压力或不平衡状态的方法, 来促使学生产生改革行为的欲望。人们开始重视教学组织形式中的社会心理问题。如心理学者罗杰斯主张,课堂教学中要建立温暖的师生关系, 从而他强调采用指导讨论法进行教学。他认为,学习向高级水平发展需要三个基本条件:一是移情;二是无条件的积极关注;三是和谐或真诚。心理科学引入教育理论和实践,不仅使教育理论面貌一新, 更重要的是向着以人为本的教育目标迈出了实质性的步伐。

    总之,进入20 世纪,心理科学取得了突飞猛进的发展, 它向世人证明它不仅是一门年轻的基础科学,也是一门应用极其广泛的应用科学。除了上述领域外,几乎在任何社会经济活动领域中,人们都开始注入心理科学的思想和方法。比如环境心理学研究环境与人的心理和行为之间关系; 运动心理学研究人在从事体育运动时的心理特点及其规律, 研究人们参加各种运动项目时,在性格、能力和气质方面的特点及体育运动对个性特征的影响; 研究体育运动教学训练过程和运动竞赛中有关人员的心理特点,如运动技能形成的心理特点等。

    心理学的研究不仅有助于丰富人类的知识,增加人类对自身的了解,而且其理论、方法和技术可以直接运用于社会生活,促进社会发展与社会和谐。一个多世纪以来, 应用是心理学学科发展的生命力之所在。联合国教科文组织将心理学列为21 世纪重点发展建设的学科之一,有人认为“21 世纪是心理学的世纪”。心理学之所以能成为新世纪重点发展建设的学科, 主要原因是它应用范围广泛涉及人类活动各个领域,心理学的应用产生了良好的社会效益。心理学对不同领域做出巨大贡献, 具有重大的理论意义和实用价值, 标志着它逐渐成为一门与现代前沿科学发展结合最紧密的学科之一, 以及对于人类现代生活工作应用最广泛的学科之一。
